First try of (F)Ubuntu 7.04 (Feisty Fawn) final
I Must say it’s impressive it doesn’t work even more from the previous version.
I installed it on my TP R60 and noticed:
- The partitioner GUI in the installation is still strange
- The account migration app didn’t find my old Ubuntu account nor the windows one
- There’s AFAIK still the problem with the GRUB installation on SATA drives (change hd(0) to /dev/sda)
- The default fglrx resolution goes only to 1024×768
- Suspend to RAM works mostly not
- Still the SHMConfig option in xorg.conf not enabled (why???)
- HDAPS module doesn’t want to load (maybe a kernel problem)
So, if you are upgrading to 7.04 you will have still a lot of work on your own to fix or override the bugs.
A good reference is here: http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Installing_Ubuntu_7.04_(Feisty_Fawn)_on_a_ThinkPad_T60
And maybe it is a good thing to add to /etc/acpi/resume.d/90-*-unstandby-led.sh is chvt 7 for automatic switching to vt 7
