Miniaturisation

Sunday, February 19th, 2006

They speak of miniaturisation in electronics, physics, … What about pharmacy? I got sick this weekend again. I got a streptococcal infection and my doctor prescribed me an antibioric named Amoksiklav. It is a combination of amoxicillin, clavulantic acid and some other fixants.
My point really isn’t about chemistry but the size of the pills. The doctor prescribed me the 1000mg (every 12 hours one) package. This stuff is so huge, that you cant even think to swallow it entirely.
When will technology find a way to make pills like that swallowable, so that a user like me with strept troat should be able to eat them?

The truth about physics

Wednesday, February 15th, 2006

I had a dream. A great idea. An engine that runs a ball around within from it. All the pieces are fixed.

The idea was based on the angular momentum combined with the first and the third Newton’s laws.

If an object spins on the same axis as the second one, it implies the same opposite angular momentum to the second object. If the second object is a wheel with a smaller moment of inertia and a radius a little bigger than the first one the second object will rotate in the opposite direction.

I liked the idea, too much, because the angular momentum points to the same direction as it does the axis. The result is that tis sistem stands up by itself.

The dream was so cool I made a proof of concept
prototype
of the “engine” but the thing didn’t work as espected, it spinned itself for a litle bit but then it stopped. No idea what’s going on.

After some more research I got an explanation. I was thinking too fast and forgot that the angular momentum is implied only when a change of the angular velocity occurs.

An idea that the laws of physics annihilated.

How to trick out mother physics like they did in Hitchhiker’s guide to the galaxy?

WTF told you to do that!

QOTD:

Accidents cause History.

If Sigismund Unbuckle had taken a walk in 1426 and met Wat Tyler, the
Peasant’s Revolt would never have happened and the motor car would not
have been invented until 2026, which would have meant that all the oil
could have been used for lamps, thus saving the electric light bulb and
the whale, and nobody would have caught Moby Dick or Billy Budd.

I’m kinda sick

I have no energy left. I’m going to sleep. My stomach dances cha cha cha…

Study ratio…

The ratio of benefits between studying on the bed and the pain it produces in your back is almost equal to the number of pages in the book at the power of -1.

Optics…

Wednesday, February 1st, 2006

I would like to try contact lenses. But, googling around brought me to the conclusion, that I must go to an optic for consultance, because on the internet I didn’t find any lenses with astigmathism (cilindric) “support”. I hope they exist.

It’s impssible, that technology advance nowdays still doesn’t brought the humanity to some kind of contact lenses that can be used by astigmatic people.
