42? WTF does 42 mean?

It should be the answer to the question of life, space and more or less everything. However, thats an answer.

Give me an answer to this:
I built a new kernel (2.6.15) some days ago. Coded a hundred of lines of bash scripts for automatic management of the APM on my laptop. It worked really fine. Suspend to ram, standby, battery monitor, USB, PCMCIA, sound,… I was like in heaven. “It works! It works!” screaming around full of joy at 5am in the morning after I finished. It really worked fine. After two days of enjoying the almighty working laptop it happened. The green blinking LED saying: “Hey! Don’t even try to touch me! Im now going to sleep!” kept blinking for almost 4 hours. The funny thing is, that I didn’t realise that something really gone wrong. I just kept typing and browsing around. At the point I had the need to go home I pressed the little button saying “Yes! Press me! I’m so stressed of all of this, so put me to sleep!” and then…. nothing happened. I pressed it again. Nothing. And agiain and again and again… Doh. It doesnt work anymore. WTF??!?!?!???!???!!!!

I launched the terminal and typed: $ apm
The very smart MDFK in the computer says: "No APM support in kernel."
And again WTF!??!?!?!?!?!

Did you find an answer?!?! I still didn’t.
The funny thing is, that I compiled a new version of the kernel (2.6.15.1) right now. And guess what. It works really fine now.
So, that’s not a hardware problem .
Go figure…
