The gig, the girl and the extreme temps!
The weekend is finally over and I have a tough week in front of me. But first things first…
So, after some weird difficulties regarding the organization of this Saturdays’ The Youth Day (slo.: Dan mladosti) it’s all over.
The organzator decided to move the event to another location which is totally inappropriate for this kind of event. I mean, who the f**k makes a big ass rock concert in the middle of the middle-town central square (well, it’s actually oval, but I’ll get to that)?! The acoustics of the place is more appropriate for the choral or some kind of music that can profit from the echoes and reverb you get from the closed-type oval place with only one opening to facing the open sea. You would understand what I’m talking about if you would hear the sound of two electric guitars, a bass, drums and a vocal of Floorshakers (that’s my band :) from theirs point of view. When we were on stage… well, we have better sound in our rehearsal room.
But it was nice anyway. This was our third concert and the biggest stage till now. So what that there were so few people in the audience? The band that was supposed to have three to four times the audience we had (at least by their reputation), had that percentage less! So, we were kinda cool. :) But nevertheless, we had our share of difficulties on stage. First, we played everything to fast. I don’t know where the problem is, but we must fix it! Second, we could hear more echoes from the opposing wall than from our monitors, so that was very bad to play with. And, the last but not least, one of drummer’s sticks broke right in the middle of one song and he had no replacement, so we played that song to the end, played another one and left all the ancores out. So we played about ten minutes less that we were supposed to. F**k it. All in all, it was a nice gig, but could be a lot better. We’ll work on that…
Now, let’s move on to the interesting part… Because of the nature of this multi-band concert there were other bands besides the Floorshakers (duh:). And what this means is a few thousand people. And among all those people there was a good deal of them I know. And this was a perfect opportunity to meet girls I like. Foruneatly enough, there was this girl, an ex-schoolmate of mine, that I’ve never payed much attention to (why is another story that I’ll tell some other time) when we were in high-school, but always thought of as cute. But after a year of not seeing her… well, I must say I regret not to know her better. She’s cute, funny, easy to talk to, likes traveling, enjoying life instead spending here days in school, etc. I was planning to call her a few times through the year but never got to it. Well, I’m happy I run into her this saturday. We talked a little, laughed a lot and she told me she’ll be in Ljubljana this week, studying for her finals. And because I’m in Ljubljana this week also, doing the sam thing, I think I’ll give her a call one of this days. A coffee or two should get us on the right track :)
And finally, this weekend was hot! The temperatures went from 20-something to 30-something in a day or two, so saturday and sunday were so hot that some of the extreme people went to take a swim in our, still very cold, sea! Well, in my sailing days I was used to get in the freezing cold water in the middle of the winter, but then again, sailing is an extreme sport. Well, I’m playing it safe and between my school finals, this hot girl I’m going to ask out and some summer programming project I look forward to, I don’t need any more excitement. Well, we’ll see how the girl part goes :)
