7/10! :)

Thats right! The results of Programming 2 pre-exam came back on Monday. My result was below any expectations and I’ve really thought that I’ll have to do it all over again. But then I learned that instead I just have to have an oral exam to “correct” the mistakes I made and it will be OK. I was a little pissed-off because I have to tao this, but I really didn’t have anything to loose.

This morning I had another exam (at 8 o’clock!) and after that I just kind of stayed around the faculty so I decided to take the plunge and see what can I pull out of this mess. So there I was, and few other schoolmates too, at 10 o’clock in front of LGM (Laboratory for Graphics and Multimedia - the “residence” of the professor) waiting for oral exams to begin. And we waited. And waited. 15 minutes past the hour and still nothing.

But then we learned that we were barking up the wrong doors. So the whole group moved two stories higher, in front of professor’s cabinet. The group was slowly getting smaller and smaller until only three of us were left. And then the professor opened the doors and told us he has a meeting so we’ll have to come back in 30 minutes! :(

And again, I’ve wondered around the faculty and eventually ended up in the park in front of it. I did a little of the usual emailing (Google’s Summer of Code just started, so I’m searching for an 4500$-idea :). And just as I was heading back inside I bumped at a colleague of mine who works in LGM.

We talked a little about school (damn exams), work (they are building a computational grind), fun (Google’s SoC) and such and the time was flying by. And as I got to the professor’s cabinet there was huge line in front of it, so I was, again, last in line. But this time I was getting that grade, no matter what! :/

I’ve chatted a little with my schoolmates and time flew by. And it was my turn. I’ve entered the cabinet with a schoolmate, we sat down and got our first task. We both completed the first one and were given the chance to make the grade higher. While he decided to take that, I asked the professor where I’m standing now. He said that my current grade was 7/10. I was a little confused, as I was supposed to get 6/10 (that is the worst positive grade). I decided that 7/10 was enough for me and I should take that before he changes his mind. And just as I told him that I’ll not be pushing any luck (the policy is that if you try to top the grade and fail your current grade drops one point), he saw that he made the mistake. Fortunately, he was correct enough and not tried to eat his word.

So, I got my 7/10 anyway and I’m glad I took that oral exam today (I was planning to do it tomorrow).

Damn, I’ve wrote an essay on one little thing that happened today again. :( I have to learn to make this things shorter…
